Thorlabs’ SOA1013SXS polarization-independent switch features the right combination of low polarization sensitivity, wide optical bandwidth, and high extinction ratio for an optical isolation switch. Using the gain/absorption properties of the MQW structure, the device can function as an optical blocking shutter with no reflections. The switch is also designed to support the highest gain and signal levels, allowing reliable function at signal levels of 15 dBm and above. The device comes in an industry-standard, 14-pin butterfly package with SM fiber pigtails that are terminated with FC/APC connectors and key-aligned to the slow axis.
